This is also the event where RED Horticulture introduces Smart Dimming, a dynamic LED lighting feature that optimizes energy use by adjusting the spectrum based on real-time sunlight intensity. This ensures efficient energy consumption without sacrificing crop growth.

This technology has been nominated by HortiContact 2025 for the Innovation Award and is eligible for this prestigious recognition.

Smart Dimming operates through an advanced blend of hardware and software, calculating spectrum setpoints using real time and forecasted sunlight, weather, and energy data, as well as sensor feedback. Powered by RED’s proprietary RED Mesh protocol, communication between the MyRED box and light fixtures is seamless. As sunlight intensity shifts, Smart Dimming gradually reallocates power to the most efficient LED colors, such as red, which enhances photosynthesis and balances growth.

With this innovative functionality, growers gain – whether or not in conjunction with the climate computer – unmatched control over energy use and crop development, setting new standards for adaptive light spectrum management. Backed by over 130 crop-specific strategies, multi-zoning, and energy monitoring, RED is pushing the boundaries of horticultural lighting.
